I have always loved body spray; I remember having a whole collection on the top of my dresser growing up. They smelled delightful, but those bottles were full of synthetic and potentially irritating chemicals.

Today, I am more selective about what I put on my body. Instead, now I choose to make my own skincare products and douse my skin with more natural ingredients.

Here is my simple, four ingredient recipe for DIY body spray. Just pour, shake, and spray away!

Materials Needed for Making DIY Body Spray

If you are using essential oils in your body spray, you will want to use amber colored glass spray bottles. If you use fragrance oil, a clear plastic spray bottle will work. A small funnel will help prevent messes when you pour the ingredients. Use a shot glass measuring cup for your milliliter measurements and a pipette to measure drops.

The isopropyl alcohol and witch hazel dilute and serve as solvents for the fragrance or essential oils. The combination of highly evaporative solvents with aloe vera allows the body spray to dry quickly, without drying out the skin.

Using 24 drops of fragrance or essential oil will give you a lightly scented body spray. Use your favorite oils or combine them to make your own signature scent.

Directions for Making DIY Body Spray

  1. 1. Remove the nozzle from the spray bottle and put the small funnel on top
  2. 2. Use the shot glass measuring cup to measure 25 ml of isopropyl alcohol and add it to the empty spray bottle
  3. 3. Use the shot glass measuring cup to measure 25 ml of witch hazel and add to the spray bottle as well
  4. 4. Add 10 ml aloe vera to the spray bottle. Do not overfill, you will need some headspace for the fragrance and the spray nozzle straw
  5. 5. With a pipette, add 24 drops of fragrance or essential oil
  6. 6. Replace the spray nozzle and shake gently
  7. 7. Use your new body spray!
