Whipped honey is a delicious treat that is easy to make! You can turn your crystalized honey into a decadent spread for crackers, bread, or yogurt. All you need is honey, a stand or electric hand mixer, and some patience.

If you are wondering what to do with the crystallized jar of honey in your pantry, don’t throw it out! It is perfect for making whipped honey.
Raw honey naturally crystallizes over time. While crystallized honey is fine to use (I actually like the crunchy texture), it’s harder to get out of the jar. To bring it back to a liquid state, you have two options. You can put your jar of crystallized honey in a hot water bath and essentially melt the crystals or whip it up!
What is Whipped Honey?
As the name implies, whipped honey is just honey that has been agitated or mixed quickly. When air is incorporated into the honey, it takes on a whiter appearance and creamier texture. The transformation is pretty cool to watch. Some people refer to whipped honey as creamed honey. Call it what you want!
What is in Whipped Honey?
The only ingredient in my recipe is raw honey. If you want to flavor your whipped honey, you can add cinnamon or other spices.
What Kind of Honey to Use
I prefer to use raw honey, from my own bees, but you can whip heat-treated honey that you buy from the store too. You can whip honey that is already crystallized, or you can use fresh honey that has not yet begun the crystallization process.
Ways to Whip Honey
Making whipped honey is as easy as it sounds, all you need is honey and some kind of mixer. If I had a nice KitchenAid-type stand mixer, that is what I would use to whip the honey. They make it easy, just set it up and let it work its magic. Since I don’t have one, I just use an electric hand mixer. It gets the job done and I get to be up close and personal as the honey changes.
I’m not sure if it would be possible to make whipped honey using a whisk and elbow grease. It would take a long time and I doubt you could get much air incorporated.
Making Whipped Honey
To make whipped honey, put the desired amount of honey into a large bowl and mix with a stand or hand mixer until it is white and creamy. For my latest batch, I mixed a half gallon of honey for 15 minutes straight and it turned out beautifully!
Storing Whipped Honey
I put my whipped honey in glass canning jars, each with a tight-fitting lid. I store them in my pantry indefinitely. Like regular honey, whipped honey is naturally already preserved and doesn’t require refrigeration.
Ways to Use Whipped Honey
Whipped honey is great on fresh bread, a cracker, or drizzled over yogurt or oatmeal. You can use it as a sweetener in drinks or when baking as well.
