A little while ago I wrote a post about making my own wreath from wild grapevines. If you missed it, here is the link. Now, I’m going to show you how I decorated it!

I love making things for my home. There is just something rewarding about working with your hands and then being able to reminisce about and admire your handiwork.

Materials Needed for Decorating a Grapevine Wreath

You don’t have to make your own grapevine wreath, you can buy one to decorate too. I usually use artificial greenery and flowers in my decorated wreaths because they stay looking nice for years. Florist wire can be used to help secure the flowers to the wreath. Scissors are used to cut and separate flowers from each other so they can be woven into the wreath.

Directions for Decorating a Grapevine Wreath

Greenery added to a wreath
  1. 1. Obtain a plain grapevine wreath
  2. 2. Obtain greenery and flowers that you want to decorate the wreath with. Try to choose colors that go together and complement one another. For the wreath pictured I went with shades of green and purple.
  3. 3. Using scissors, cut and separate groups of greenery or flowers so that they can be evenly distributed on the wreath. You want the wreath to be balanced, without too much of one type of flower or greenery in one area
  4. 4. Starting with the greenery, weave individual pieces into the wreath. Secure with florist wire, if needed. (You want to save the flowers for last so they don’t get covered up)
  5. 5. Next, weave the largest of the flowers you have into the wreath. Spread them out and position the greenery around them
  6. 6. Continue the above process, ending with the smallest or most intricate flowers.
  7. 7. Tuck in or trim off any protruding ends
  8. 8. Step back and look at your wreath from a distance to determine if it is balanced, bend stem wires or adjust the position of greenery or flowers to cover up any bare spots.
  9. 9. Hang your wreath somewhere it can be enjoyed
