I love a man with facial hair. Its manly and sexy- but what isn’t is dry skin.

The solution? Beard oil.

You can find some at the store, or you can whip up your own in minutes with just a few natural ingredients. Give it a try!

I like to mixing everything in a glass measuring cup with a pointed spout for pouring. Using a rubber spatula makes sure none of the oils go to waste and is easy to clean up.

To prolong the shelf life of your beard oil keep it out of direct sunlight, keep the lid on tightly, and use amber instead of clear bottles.

The pipette is used for transferring essential or fragrance oils into the mix. A small funnel is helpful to fill your bottles, but it’s only necessary if your mixing cup doesn’t have a spout.

Labels can be as simple or cutesy as you like! Don’t forget to include the date and the scent used.

Ingredients for Beard Oil

Note: This recipe will fill one 2 oz. bottle, double or triple as necessary

  • 1 oz. organic jojoba oil
  • 1 oz. organic sweet almond oil
  • 10 drops vitamin E oil
  • 10-15 drops essential or fragrance oil

As you can see, the beard oil is mostly comprised of carrier oils (jojoba and sweet almond oil). Both are extremely soothing. They provide gentle moisturization to the skin and hair shaft, without clogging pores.

The vitamin E oil aids in hydration, while it also acts as a powerful antioxidant that combats skin damage.

Some of my favorite essential oils to add are lavender, orange, bergamot, and peppermint. I also buy high-quality, vegan, phthalate-free, plant-based fragrance oils from Brambleberry that I sometimes use instead. I love the smell of their “Tobacco and Bay Leaf” or “Hickory and Suede” on my man!

Directions for Making Beard Oil

  1. Pour 1 oz. of jojoba oil into the measuring cup
  2. Add 1 oz. of sweet almond oil
  3. Add 10 drops of vitamin E oil with a pipette
  4. Add 10-15 drops of essential or fragrance oil of your choice
  5. Stir with the rubber spatula
  6. Pour mixture into 2 oz. amber bottles, do not fill all the way or you won’t have room for the dropper lid to fit! Use the funnel if you have one.
  7. Screw dropper lids onto bottles
  8. Wipe bottles to make sure they are clean and dry, then affix labels
  9. Clean up your utensils
  10. Apply to a beard near you!
